Scroll down for a recipe that’s about to bring some serious cookie cheer to your holiday festivities.
They’re the perfect bite-sized way to bring some much needed joy. Let’s create some delicious memories, one Oreo ball at a time! Here’s what you’re going to need:
Ingredients
- 36 Oreo cookies, finely crushed
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract (or you can sub with vanilla)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 oz block of cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 10 oz bag dark chocolate melting wafers
- 1 tablespoon Crisco or vegetable oil
- Crushed candy canes for garnishing
If you don’t have a food processor, I recommend using a ziploc bag and rolling pin (or other heavy object) to break up the Oreos. Put them in the bag and smash!
Because they include dairy (cream cheese), don’t leave these balls on the counter. Store them in the fridge in an airtight container.
These balls can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. You can also freeze them for up to two months.

Christmas Oreo Balls
Equipment
- 2 Forks
Ingredients
- 36 Oreos finely crushed
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened to room temperature
- 10 ounce dark chocolate melting wafers 1 bag
- 1 tablespoon Crisco or vegetable oil
- 2 Candy canes crushed, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare a large cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Using the food processor, finely crush the Oreos.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine crushed cookies, peppermint extract, vanilla, and cream cheese. Blend using an electric hand mixer for 2-3 minutes or until well blended and smooth. This mixture should be dough-like.
- Using a 2 tablespoon cookie scoop, scoop cookie mixture and release into your hands. Roll into a small ball using the palms of your hands before placing it back on the baking sheet. Repeat until the dough is gone or baking sheet is filled (I like to fit 12-15 balls on a 11×17 inch sheet).
- Place each truffle ball on the sheet of parchment paper and place inside the refrigerator for 1.5 hours to chill.
- About 5-10 minutes before the chilling time is complete, begin to prepare your melting chocolate. Add wafers to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on 50% power for 1 minute. Add Crisco and stir. Continue heating in 30 second bursts, stirring in between, until fully melted and silky smooth.
- Using two forks or dipping tools, dip each truffle ball into the melted chocolate, covering it completely. Roll the ball, working it into the chocolate to cover it completely.
- Place the chocolate covered ball back on the baking sheet and immediately top with crushed candy canes.
- Allow Oreo balls to chill for 30 minutes before serving.
