Here’s what you’re going to need for these maple cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Icing

  • 5 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Tips and Thoughts for This Recipe

Feel free to swap the vanilla extract out with the maple extract for a more intense maple flavor.

These last in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.

You can also freeze them in an airtight container for up to two months (with no glaze). When you bring them out of the freezer, let them rise to room temperature naturally as opposed to microwaving.

Ingredients

Icing

  • 5 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon butter softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350℉ and line your cookie sheet with parchment paper.

  • Cream together the butter and brown sugar.
  • Add 1/4th of the maple syrup, the egg, and the vanilla, and cream into the butter and sugar mixture until well mixed.
  • Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt until it forms a dough, set aside for a moment.
  • Stir together the white sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  • Scoop out 2 tablespoons of the dough, roll into a ball and roll in the cinnamon and sugar mixture, then place on the cookie sheet. Continue doing this until you have 6 cookies on the tray.
  • Bake for about 12 minutes and then allow them to cool on a cooling rack. Continue scooping, rolling in sugar and cinnamon mixture, and baking for 12 minutes per batch until you run out of dough.
  • Make the maple icing by creaming together all icing ingredients, then ice the cookies before enjoying.
