This Sunflower Dough Art Looks Too Pretty to Eat
This sunflower dough art takes a simple piece of yellow dough and turns it into a bright flower you almost do not want to eat. In this short video, the dough is pressed, scored and shaped into petals in just a few moves.
How the Sunflower Is Made
A round of dough becomes the center, and thin lines are pressed into it to look like the seeds of a real sunflower. The outer edge is cut and pinched into pointed petals that fan out around the middle. Two dark red dates sit in the center to finish the look.
It is a fun hands-on craft, a lot like working with clay, but you get a treat at the end.
Tips to Try It at Home
- Use a soft, well rested dough so the petals do not crack.
- A butter knife or the back of a spoon works well for the seed lines.
- Add a little turmeric or pumpkin to the dough for that sunny yellow color.
- Steam or bake it once you are happy with the shape.
