Maple Chai Donuts for a Delicious Fall Treat
Learn how to make these delicious maple chai donuts baked right in the oven! The spices go well with maple for a perfect fall treat.
There are so many things I love about autumn! From the acorns to the leaves to the pumpkin spice to the fall desserts . . . there’s a lot to celebrate. I don’t know if you’re like me but I especially enjoy the cooler weather. When the temp hits below 60 degrees, that is prime time for me.
I’m always looking for delicious baked goodies to make for the season and baked donuts are a favorite. I’ve made apple cider donuts in the past and really enjoyed them, so I decided to do another version this year: maple chai donuts!
This baked donut recipe easy to make and even easier to eat! One of the great things about this fall donut recipe is that it’s relatively quick. Once you gather the ingredients, you’ll only need about 10 minutes to put it together and then 20 minutes to bake.
The chai spices give them a warm, cozy taste that will have you craving more than one. So grab your ingredients and bake up these delicious donuts for an autumnal delight.
And when they are gone and eaten up in one day? Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Oh and one last tip . . .
If you’ve never tried a donut pan they are completely amazing. That is how you get your perfectly shaped baked donuts! I have the Wilton 6-cavity pan and love it.
Are you ready? Learn how to make these delicious buggers below. First, here’s what you’re going to need.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon chai spice
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Frosting
1 cup powdered sugar whisked with 1 tablespoon milk
Enjoy the donuts warm or at room temperature. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
If you don’t have a donut pan, you can use a muffin pan. Roll small pieces of foil into about 1/2 inch balls and place them into the center of each cup, then spray the entire pan with cooking spray.
Take your batter and pipe around the foil ball. You’ll fill about halfway but you can use less if you want them to really look like donuts.
I topped the donuts with a simple powdered sugar icing (1 cup powdered sugar whisked with 1 tablespoon milk)— but this is optional! They’re also delicious with cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top.
