If one dish explains why people love Chrissy Teigen recipes, it is this one from Cravings: Hungry for More. Torn everything bagels soak overnight in an egg custard with cream cheese, sausage, spinach and tomatoes, then bake into a golden, puffy brunch dish that smells like a bagel shop. She even showed it off on morning TV, and it is the recipe home cooks mention first when they talk about her second book. Her journey from model to bestselling cookbook author is laid out on Wikipedia. Make it the night before and just bake it in the morning..

You will need: 4 everything bagels (torn into chunks), 8 oz breakfast sausage, 6 oz cream cheese (in small pieces), 10 large eggs, 2 cups whole milk, 1 cup shredded cheddar, 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella, 2 cups baby spinach, 1 cup halved cherry tomatoes, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, chopped chives.

How to make it: 1. Brown the sausage in a skillet, breaking it up, then drain. 2. Butter a 9×13 inch dish and spread in the bagel chunks. 3. Scatter over the sausage, spinach, tomatoes and cream cheese pieces. 4. Whisk the eggs, milk, salt and pepper and pour evenly over the top. 5. Sprinkle with both cheeses, cover and chill 2 to 8 hours. 6. Bake uncovered at 350°F for 45 to 55 minutes until puffed and set in the center. 7. Rest 10 minutes and top with chives.

Pot Pie Soup With Crust Crackers

This is pot pie for people who mostly love the filling. In the first Cravings book she turns the classic into a creamy soup packed with rotisserie chicken, potatoes, carrots, peas and little onions, then bakes pie crust separately and breaks it into crisp, buttery crackers for dunking. It is the kind of shortcut that makes her cooking feel friendly: store-bought chicken, a pot and a sheet pan. It even turned up in Clevver’s celebrity recipe taste test videos, and it is one of the Chrissy Teigen recipes that feels perfect for the first cold night of the season.

You will need: 1 refrigerated pie crust, 3 tbsp butter, 1 onion (diced), 2 carrots (sliced), 2 celery ribs (sliced), 1/4 cup flour, 4 cups chicken stock, 1 cup milk, 1 large potato (diced), 1 cup frozen peas, 1 cup pearl onions, 3 cups shredded rotisserie chicken, 1/2 cup heavy cream, thyme, salt and pepper.

How to make it: 1. Bake the pie crust flat on a sheet at 425°F for 12 to 15 minutes, cool and break into shards. 2. Melt the butter in a pot and soften the onion, carrot and celery for 6 minutes. 3. Stir in the flour for 1 minute, then whisk in the stock and milk. 4. Add the potato and simmer 15 minutes until tender. 5. Stir in the chicken, peas, pearl onions, cream and thyme and heat through. 6. Season and serve topped with crust crackers.

Her mac and cheese is the dish many fans say finally beat the boxed kind in their house. The Cravings version blends sharp cheddar, nutty Swiss and a few slices of American cheese for an extra-smooth sauce, adds a pinch of cayenne, and finishes it all under a crunchy layer of garlicky, cheesy breadcrumbs. It shows up again and again in home cooking forums where people cook their way through her books. Bake it in one big dish for a crowd or in small ramekins so everyone gets plenty of the crispy top.

You will need: 1 lb pasta shells, 4 tbsp butter, 1/4 cup flour, 3 cups whole milk, 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar, 1 cup shredded Swiss or Gruyere, 4 slices American cheese, 1/4 tsp cayenne, salt. Topping: 2 slices white bread (pulsed into crumbs), 2 tbsp melted butter, 1 clove garlic (grated), 1/3 cup grated parmesan.

How to make it: 1. Heat the oven to 375°F and cook the pasta 2 minutes short of al dente. 2. Melt the butter, whisk in the flour for 1 minute, then whisk in the milk and simmer until thick. 3. Off the heat, stir in all the cheeses and cayenne until smooth, and season. 4. Fold in the pasta and spread in a buttered baking dish. 5. Toss the crumbs with butter, garlic and parmesan and scatter over. 6. Bake 20 to 25 minutes until bubbling and golden.

Pad Thai Carbonara

This mash-up from Cravings: Hungry for More is pure Chrissy: a creamy Italian carbonara made with Thai rice noodles, bacon, bean sprouts, peanuts and lime. The egg and cheese sauce coats the noodles just like spaghetti, while fish sauce and a squeeze of lime keep it bright. BuzzFeed’s team cooked it when they tested Chrissy Teigen recipes from the book for a week. If you love a creamy noodle night, our celebrity pasta recipes gallery has more star-approved bowls, including her lemony spaghetti.

You will need: 8 oz flat rice noodles, 6 slices bacon (chopped), 2 cloves garlic (minced), 3 large eggs plus 1 yolk, 1/2 cup grated parmesan, 1 tbsp fish sauce, 1 tsp soy sauce, 1 cup bean sprouts, 3 scallions (sliced), 1/4 cup chopped roasted peanuts, cilantro, lime wedges, black pepper, chili flakes.

How to make it: 1. Soak or cook the rice noodles until just tender, then drain, saving 1/2 cup water. 2. Fry the bacon until crisp, add the garlic for 30 seconds and turn off the heat. 3. Whisk the eggs, yolk, parmesan, fish sauce and soy sauce. 4. Toss the hot noodles in the bacon pan, then pour in the egg mixture, tossing fast and adding splashes of water until creamy. 5. Fold in sprouts and scallions. 6. Top with peanuts, cilantro, pepper, chili flakes and lime.

Her homemade answer to the boxed coating is one of the most talked-about Chrissy Teigen recipes in Cravings: Hungry for More. Drumsticks get a heavily seasoned crumb coating, bake on a rack until shatteringly crisp, and then get drizzled with a quick hot honey made from honey and red pepper flakes. No frying, no mess on the stove, and the sweet heat makes it impossible to stop at one. It is a great weeknight dinner with a simple salad, and leftovers stay surprisingly crunchy the next day.

You will need: 8 chicken drumsticks, 1 cup panko, 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs, 1 tbsp paprika, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp dried oregano, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1/4 cup olive oil, 2 eggs (beaten). Hot honey: 1/3 cup honey, 1 tsp red pepper flakes, 1 tsp cider vinegar.

How to make it: 1. Heat the oven to 425°F and set a rack over a lined sheet pan. 2. Mix the panko, breadcrumbs, spices and salt in a bag, then add the oil and shake. 3. Dip each drumstick in egg, then shake in the coating. 4. Set on the rack and bake 40 to 45 minutes, until 175°F inside. 5. Warm the honey, pepper flakes and vinegar for 2 minutes. 6. Drizzle over the hot chicken.

Chrissy Teigen Recipes for Pasta Night: Baked Pasta alla Norma

The first Cravings book takes the Sicilian classic of eggplant, tomato and ricotta salata and turns it into a bubbling baked pasta with pockets of melted mozzarella she calls mozzarella bombs. Roasting the eggplant until soft and golden gives the sauce a rich, almost meaty feel without any meat at all. It reheats beautifully, so it is a smart make-ahead dish for busy weeks or a cozy Sunday dinner with friends. Use any short tube pasta, like ziti, rigatoni or penne.

You will need: 1 lb ziti or penne, 2 medium eggplants (cubed), 1/3 cup olive oil, 3 cloves garlic (sliced), 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes, 1 jar (24 oz) marinara, 1 cup ricotta, 8 oz fresh mozzarella (torn into chunks), 1/2 cup grated parmesan, fresh basil, salt.

How to make it: 1. Toss the eggplant with oil and salt and roast at 425°F for 25 minutes until golden. 2. Cook the pasta 2 minutes short of al dente and drain. 3. Warm the garlic and pepper flakes in a little oil, then add the marinara. 4. Mix the pasta, sauce, eggplant and basil and spread in a baking dish. 5. Dollop with ricotta, tuck in the mozzarella chunks and sprinkle with parmesan. 6. Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes until bubbling.

Saucy Chicken Lettuce Wraps

These lettuce wraps are among the Chrissy Teigen recipes from her first Cravings book that people make when they want something light that still feels like takeout. Ground chicken is stir-fried with mushrooms, crunchy water chestnuts and red pepper, then tossed in a sticky sauce of sweet chili, hoisin, soy, sriracha and sesame oil. Spoon it into soft butter lettuce leaves and eat with your hands. It comes together in about 20 minutes and works as a party snack or an easy dinner with rice.

You will need: 1 lb ground chicken, 1 tbsp oil, 2 cloves garlic, 1 tbsp grated ginger, 6 white mushrooms (diced), 1 can (8 oz) water chestnuts (diced), 1 red bell pepper (diced), 3 scallions, 2 heads butter lettuce. Sauce: 3 tbsp sweet chili sauce, 3 tbsp hoisin, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sriracha, 1 tsp sesame oil, 1 tbsp rice vinegar.

How to make it: 1. Whisk the sauce ingredients together. 2. Cook the chicken in the oil over high heat until browned, then stir in 2 tbsp sauce and set aside. 3. In the same pan, cook the garlic and ginger 1 minute, then add the mushrooms for 3 minutes. 4. Return the chicken, add the pepper and water chestnuts. 5. Pour in the rest of the sauce and the scallions and toss. 6. Spoon into lettuce cups.

Pad Grapow Chicken With a Fried Egg

Cravings includes a whole set of Thai dishes inspired by her mother, Pepper, and this spicy basil chicken is one of the easiest Chrissy Teigen recipes in the book. Minced chicken is stir-fried with garlic, chilies, oyster sauce and soy, then finished with a big handful of basil until the kitchen smells amazing. Serve it over jasmine rice with a crispy-edged fried egg on top so the runny yolk becomes part of the sauce. From start to finish it takes about 15 minutes, which is why it is a go-to for fast dinners.

You will need: 1 lb ground chicken, 2 tbsp oil, 5 cloves garlic, 2 to 4 Thai chilies (chopped), 1 shallot (sliced), 1 tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp fish sauce, 1 tsp sugar, 2 cups Thai or regular basil leaves, 4 eggs, cooked jasmine rice.

How to make it: 1. Pound or finely chop the garlic and chilies together. 2. Heat the oil in a wok and stir-fry the garlic, chilies and shallot for 30 seconds. 3. Add the chicken and cook on high, breaking it up, until no longer pink. 4. Add the oyster sauce, soy, fish sauce and sugar and toss 1 minute. 5. Stir in the basil until wilted. 6. Fry the eggs in hot oil until crisp at the edges and serve on rice with the chicken.

Chrissy Teigen Recipes for Lunch: Sesame Chicken Noodles

Cold sesame noodles are a lunchbox favorite, and her version from the first Cravings book uses a creamy tahini and soy dressing with a little chili kick. Shredded chicken, crunchy cucumber and scallions are tossed in so it becomes a full meal, not just a side. The noodles taste even better after an hour in the fridge, which makes them great for meal prep or picnics. Swap in rotisserie chicken to keep it fast, and add extra sesame seeds on top for crunch.

You will need: 12 oz spaghetti or lo mein noodles, 2 cups shredded cooked chicken, 1 cucumber (cut in matchsticks), 1 carrot (shredded), 4 scallions (sliced), 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds. Dressing: 1/3 cup tahini, 3 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tsp chili oil, 1 clove garlic, 2 to 4 tbsp warm water.

How to make it: 1. Cook the noodles, rinse in cold water and drain well. 2. Whisk the dressing ingredients, adding water until it is pourable. 3. Toss the noodles with the dressing. 4. Add the chicken, cucumber, carrot and most of the scallions and toss again. 5. Chill at least 30 minutes. 6. Top with sesame seeds and the remaining scallions before serving.

Pineapple Grilled Short Ribs With Coconut Rice

These thin, cross-cut short ribs from Cravings soak overnight in a sweet pineapple, soy and garlic marinade that makes the meat tender and lightly caramelized. They cook in just a few minutes per side on a grill pan, and she serves them with her sweet and salty coconut rice. The fruit in the marinade does a lot of the work, so even a cheaper cut turns into something special. The same marinade is great on flank steak if you cannot find flanken ribs.

You will need: 2 1/2 lb flanken-cut beef short ribs, 1 cup pineapple juice (or 1/2 cup grated fresh pineapple), 1/2 cup soy sauce, 3 tbsp brown sugar, 5 cloves garlic (grated), 1 tbsp grated ginger, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 3 scallions. Rice: 2 cups jasmine rice, 1 can (13.5 oz) coconut milk, 1 cup water, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp salt.

How to make it: 1. Mix the pineapple, soy, sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil and scallions. 2. Marinate the ribs in it, covered, overnight in the fridge. 3. Rinse the rice and simmer it with the coconut milk, water, sugar and salt, covered, for 18 minutes, then rest 10. 4. Heat a grill pan or grill to medium-high. 5. Cook the ribs 2 to 3 minutes per side until caramelized. 6. Slice between the bones and serve with the rice.

Skillet Charred Fish Tacos

Fish tacos are a staple in her house, and this Cravings version, one of the simplest Chrissy Teigen recipes, keeps things simple: mild white fish charred hard in a hot cast iron skillet, a crunchy cabbage slaw and warm tortillas. Charring instead of frying keeps the fish light while still giving it smoky, crispy edges. Set everything out taco-bar style and let everyone build their own, with lime, avocado and hot sauce on the side. Tilapia, cod or catfish all work, so use whatever looks freshest.

You will need: 1 1/2 lb white fish fillets (tilapia, cod or catfish), 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp salt, 2 tbsp oil, 12 small corn tortillas. Slaw: 3 cups shredded green and red cabbage, 1/4 cup mayonnaise, juice of 1 lime, cilantro. To serve: avocado, mango salsa, lime wedges.

How to make it: 1. Mix the slaw ingredients and chill. 2. Pat the fish dry and rub with the spices and salt. 3. Heat the oil in a cast iron skillet until very hot. 4. Sear the fish 2 to 3 minutes per side until charred and flaky. 5. Warm the tortillas in a dry pan. 6. Flake the fish into the tortillas and top with slaw, avocado, salsa and lime.

Sweet Potato Gnocchi With Brown Butter and Sage

This is one of the more ambitious dishes in the first Cravings book, from a chapter about recipes that look scary but are not. Soft sweet potato gnocchi are pan-seared until golden and tossed in nutty brown butter with crispy sage leaves and parmesan. A Spoon University writer who cooked Chrissy Teigen recipes for a story noted that it calls for an entire stick of butter. It is the perfect fall project for a lazy Sunday, and leftover gnocchi freeze well for another night.

You will need: 2 medium sweet potatoes (baked and peeled), 1 cup ricotta, 1/2 cup grated parmesan plus more to serve, 1 egg, 1 tsp salt, 2 to 2 1/2 cups flour, 8 tbsp butter, 12 fresh sage leaves, black pepper.

How to make it: 1. Mash the sweet potato until smooth and mix with the ricotta, parmesan, egg and salt. 2. Stir in flour a little at a time until a soft dough forms. 3. Roll into ropes and cut into 1 inch pieces. 4. Boil in salted water until they float, about 2 minutes, and drain. 5. Melt the butter until golden brown and fry the sage leaves until crisp. 6. Sear the gnocchi in the brown butter until golden and top with parmesan and pepper.

Cheesy Guacamole

Cheese in guacamole sounds wrong until you try it. Her first cookbook folds crumbly cotija or cheddar into a chunky avocado mash with lime, onion, jalapeno and cilantro, and the salty bits make every chip taste richer. It was one of the Chrissy Teigen recipes Spoon University cooked when testing the book. Keep the avocado chunky, mix in the cheese right before serving, and set it out with warm tortilla chips for game day or movie night.

You will need: 3 ripe avocados, juice of 1 to 2 limes, 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion, 1 jalapeno (minced), 1/4 cup chopped cilantro, 1 small tomato (diced), 1/2 cup crumbled cotija or shredded sharp cheddar, salt, tortilla chips.

How to make it: 1. Halve the avocados and scoop them into a bowl. 2. Mash roughly with a fork, keeping some chunks. 3. Stir in the lime juice, onion, jalapeno and a good pinch of salt. 4. Fold in the cilantro and tomato. 5. Right before serving, fold in most of the cheese. 6. Sprinkle the rest on top and serve with chips.

Roasted Jalapeno and Chorizo Queso

This party dip from Cravings is unapologetically indulgent. Roasted jalapenos and browned chorizo are stirred into a pot of silky melted cheese with onion and tomatoes, so you get smoky heat and little bits of spicy sausage in every scoop. It is one of the Chrissy Teigen recipes home cooks pick when they cook their way through the book together online. Keep it warm in a small slow cooker or a skillet over low heat so it stays dippable all night.

You will need: 2 jalapenos, 6 oz Mexican chorizo (casings removed), 1/2 onion (diced), 1 lb processed cheese loaf (cubed), 1 cup shredded pepper jack, 1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies, 1/3 cup milk, cilantro, tortilla chips.

How to make it: 1. Roast the jalapenos under the broiler until blistered, then peel, seed and chop. 2. Brown the chorizo in a skillet, then add the onion and cook 4 minutes. 3. Lower the heat and add the cheese cubes, pepper jack, tomatoes and milk. 4. Stir until completely melted and smooth. 5. Fold in the jalapenos. 6. Top with cilantro and serve warm with chips.

Chrissy Teigen Recipes for Parties: Secretly Spicy Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs topped with paprika, a classic among Chrissy Teigen recipes
Photo: Daniel / Unsplash

Her deviled eggs look classic but hide a surprise. In Cravings, the creamy yolk filling gets mustard, relish and crispy bacon, and a little dot of sriracha goes into each egg white before it is filled, so the heat hits you at the end. A slice of pickled jalapeno on top gives a hint of what is coming. They are easy to make the day before, and they always disappear first at holiday parties and potlucks.

You will need: 12 large eggs, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1 tbsp Dijon mustard, 2 tbsp sweet pickle relish, 3 slices cooked bacon (finely crumbled), salt and pepper, sriracha, 24 pickled jalapeno slices, paprika, chives.

How to make it: 1. Hard-boil the eggs for 11 minutes, chill in ice water and peel. 2. Halve them and pop the yolks into a bowl. 3. Mash the yolks with the mayo, mustard, relish, bacon, salt and pepper. 4. Put a tiny dot of sriracha in each egg white. 5. Pipe or spoon the filling on top. 6. Finish each with a jalapeno slice, paprika and chives.

Jalapeno Parmesan Crusted Grilled Cheese

This sandwich from Cravings: Hungry for More is the grilled cheese upgrade people keep sharing. Jalapeno rings are pressed into the buttered outside of the bread and covered with parmesan, which melts into a crispy, lacy cheese crust while the cheddar inside turns gooey. Tasting Table called it a fiery bread upgrade, and it takes only a few extra seconds compared with a regular grilled cheese. Pair it with tomato soup for the coziest lunch of the week.

You will need: 4 slices soft sourdough or sandwich bread, 3 tbsp softened butter, 1 to 2 jalapenos (thinly sliced into rings), 1/2 cup finely shredded parmesan, 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar.

How to make it: 1. Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. 2. Press jalapeno rings into the butter. 3. Sprinkle parmesan over the butter and press so it sticks. 4. Flip two slices cheese side down in a cold nonstick skillet and pile on the cheddar. 5. Top with the other slices, crust side up. 6. Cook over medium heat 2 to 3 minutes per side until deep golden and melted.

Taters, Shrooms and Peas With Parmesan

This cozy side from Cravings: Hungry for More was one of the Chrissy Teigen recipes BuzzFeed’s team cooked from the book. Little potatoes and browned mushrooms are simmered in cream and parmesan, then sweet peas are folded in at the end for color. It tastes like the creamy center of a gratin with half the work, and it goes with roast chicken, steak or a holiday ham. Use a mix of mushrooms if you can find them, and add a squeeze of lemon right before serving.

You will need: 1 1/2 lb baby potatoes (halved), 2 tbsp butter, 1 tbsp olive oil, 8 oz cremini mushrooms (sliced), 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 cup heavy cream, 1/2 cup chicken stock, 3/4 cup grated parmesan, 1 cup frozen peas, thyme, salt and pepper.

How to make it: 1. Boil the potatoes in salted water for 10 minutes until just tender and drain. 2. Melt the butter with the oil in a large skillet and brown the mushrooms. 3. Add the garlic and potatoes and cook 3 minutes. 4. Pour in the cream and stock and simmer until slightly thick. 5. Stir in most of the parmesan, the peas and thyme. 6. Top with the rest of the parmesan and broil 2 minutes until golden.

Chrissy Teigen Recipes Finale: Her Famous Banana Bread

No list of her recipes is complete without the banana bread. Her version from Cravings: Hungry for More is loaded with dark chocolate chunks and shredded coconut and gets an extra soft crumb from a box of instant vanilla pudding mix, baked in a bundt pan. It is known as her Twitter-famous banana bread, and it is still one of the most-baked Chrissy Teigen recipes online. Bake it in a bundt or two loaf pans, and freeze slices for quick fall breakfasts all season.

You will need: 4 very ripe bananas (mashed), 4 large eggs, 2/3 cup vegetable oil, 2 cups sugar, 3.4 oz box instant vanilla pudding mix, 2 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut, 1 cup dark chocolate chunks, butter for the pan.

How to make it: 1. Heat the oven to 325°F and butter a bundt pan well. 2. Whisk the bananas, eggs, oil and sugar. 3. In another bowl mix the pudding mix, flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. 4. Stir the dry mix into the wet just until combined. 5. Fold in the coconut and chocolate. 6. Bake 60 to 70 minutes until a skewer comes out clean, cool 20 minutes and turn out.
