When Gordon Ramsay Cooks With Famous Friends, the Food Gets Simple: 13 Star Dishes to Make at Home
Gordon Ramsay is famous for yelling in restaurant kitchens. But when he cooks with famous friends, the food gets surprisingly simple: steak and eggs in Texas, a fried chicken sandwich, a breakfast burger. On his YouTube series Scrambled and in TV guest spots, stars like Matthew McConaughey, Tom Holland and Selena Gomez have stepped into his kitchen, and millions of people have watched. Here is what they made, with an easy home version of every dish..
Matthew McConaughey: Texas Ribeye Steak and Eggs

When Scrambled went to Texas, Gordon Ramsay cooked with one of the most famous Texans alive. The video, Gordon Ramsay Teaches Matthew McConaughey How to Make the Ultimate Steak and Eggs, has more than 12 million views. The dish is a ranch breakfast: a ribeye seared hard in cast iron, basted with butter, then sliced next to sunny side up eggs. Steak for breakfast: yes or no?
You will need: 1 ribeye steak about 1 inch thick, salt and coarse black pepper, 1 tablespoon oil, 2 tablespoons butter, 2 cloves garlic smashed, 2 sprigs thyme or rosemary, 2 to 4 eggs, chopped chives.
How to make it: Take the steak out of the fridge 30 minutes early and season it well. Heat the oil in a cast iron skillet until smoking. Sear the steak 3 to 4 minutes per side. Add the butter, garlic and herbs and spoon the foaming butter over the steak for 1 minute. Rest it 5 minutes. Fry the eggs in the same pan, then slice the steak and serve together with chives.
Tom Holland and Gordon Ramsay: Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich

Spider-Man himself joined Gordon Ramsay in the kitchen for a seriously spicy fried chicken sandwich, and the video has more than 8 million views. The two spent most of it laughing while the heat built up. Our home version uses buttermilk marinated thighs, a crunchy double dip coating and a creamy hot sauce mayo. How much heat can you handle?
You will need: 4 boneless chicken thighs, 1 cup buttermilk, 2 tablespoons hot sauce, 1 and a half cups flour, 1 tablespoon paprika, 1 teaspoon each garlic powder, cayenne and salt, oil for frying, 4 brioche buns, shredded lettuce, pickles. Spicy mayo: half cup mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon hot sauce, 1 teaspoon honey.
How to make it: Soak the chicken in buttermilk and hot sauce at least 1 hour. Mix the flour and spices. Dredge each thigh, dip it back in the buttermilk and dredge again. Fry in 350F oil 6 to 7 minutes until golden and 165F inside. Drain on a rack. Mix the spicy mayo, spread it on toasted buns and stack with chicken, lettuce and pickles.
Selena Gomez Cooks With Gordon Ramsay: Breakfast Turkey Burger

Selena Gomez showed up on Scrambled to make a breakfast turkey burger with Gordon Ramsay, a video that now has more than 5 million views. It is a juicy turkey patty topped with a fried egg and cheese, the kind of burger you could eat at 10 in the morning or 10 at night. Would you eat a burger for breakfast?
You will need: 1 pound ground turkey, 1 teaspoon salt, half teaspoon pepper, half teaspoon smoked paprika, 1 tablespoon oil, 4 slices cheddar or pepper jack, 4 eggs, 4 brioche buns, 1 avocado sliced, hot sauce or salsa.

Add the cheese for the last minute. Fry the eggs. Toast the buns and stack the patty, egg, avocado and a spoon of salsa.
Steve-O: Southwestern Omelette

This is one of the most watched Scrambled videos ever, with more than 18 million views. Steve-O came to cook a Southwestern omelette and brought plenty of chaos with him, but the omelette itself is a great everyday breakfast. Peppers, onion, chorizo or ham and pepper jack get folded into soft eggs. Try it with salsa and avocado on the side.
You will need: 3 eggs, 1 tablespoon milk, 1 tablespoon butter, quarter cup diced bell pepper, 2 tablespoons diced onion, quarter cup cooked chorizo or diced ham, quarter cup shredded pepper jack, salt, pepper, salsa and avocado.
How to make it: Cook the peppers, onion and chorizo in a nonstick pan 4 minutes, then remove. Whisk the eggs with milk, salt and pepper. Melt the butter in the pan over medium low heat, add the eggs and stir gently until barely set. Spoon the filling and cheese over one half, fold and slide onto a plate. Serve with salsa and avocado.
Aarón Sánchez: Breakfast Tacos

The very first episode of Scrambled was a breakfast taco face off between Gordon Ramsay and chef Aarón Sánchez, and it has more than 7 million views. Breakfast tacos are a Texas morning favorite: warm tortillas filled with soft eggs, crispy potatoes, cheese and salsa. Who makes the best tacos at your house?

Matilda Ramsay: Full English Breakfast

Gordon and his daughter Matilda once cooked a full English breakfast on The Late Late Show with James Corden, and that clip has more than 52 million views. Dad and daughter made it look easy, and it is a fun weekend project for families. Everyone gets a job: one on eggs, one on toast, one on the beans. What would be on your perfect breakfast plate?
You will need: 4 breakfast sausages, 4 slices bacon, 2 tomatoes halved, 8 ounces mushrooms sliced, 1 can (15 ounces) baked beans, 4 eggs, 4 slices toast, butter, salt and pepper.
How to make it: Heat the oven to 200F to keep things warm. Cook the sausages in a large skillet 12 to 15 minutes, add the bacon and cook until crisp, then move to the oven. Cook the tomatoes cut side down and the mushrooms in the drippings 5 minutes. Warm the beans in a small pot. Fry the eggs, toast the bread and plate everything together.
Jack Whitehall: Beef Wellington Burger

Beef Wellington is Gordon Ramsay’s signature dish, so when comedian Jack Whitehall came on Scrambled this summer, they turned it into a burger. The idea is all the Wellington flavors without the pastry stress: a juicy beef patty, a savory mushroom and onion topping and a buttery bun. Would you try the burger or stick with the classic?
You will need: 1 and a half pounds ground beef, salt and pepper, 8 ounces mushrooms finely chopped, 1 shallot minced, 1 tablespoon butter, 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, 4 slices prosciutto, 4 slices Swiss or Gruyere, 4 brioche buns, 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard, arugula.
How to make it: Cook the mushrooms and shallot in the butter with thyme until dry and dark, about 10 minutes. Season. Shape 4 patties and season well. Sear in a hot skillet 3 to 4 minutes per side, add the cheese to melt. Crisp the prosciutto in the pan. Spread mustard on toasted buns, add the patty, mushroom mix, prosciutto and arugula.
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman: Chimichanga Cook Off

When the stars of a superhero movie came to the kitchen, Gordon Ramsay and his daughter Tilly turned it into a chimichanga cook off. The extended version of the video has more than 2 million views. A chimichanga is a stuffed burrito fried until golden and crispy. Our version is filled with seasoned beef, beans and cheese and baked in the oven for less mess.
You will need: 1 pound ground beef, 1 packet taco seasoning, 1 can (16 ounces) refried beans, 1 and a half cups shredded cheese, 6 large flour tortillas, 2 tablespoons melted butter, salsa, sour cream, guacamole.
How to make it: Heat the oven to 425F. Brown the beef and stir in the taco seasoning with a little water. Spread beans down the center of each tortilla, add beef and cheese, fold the sides in and roll up tightly. Place seam side down on a pan and brush with butter. Bake 15 to 20 minutes, turning once, until golden. Top with salsa, sour cream and guacamole.
Nick Kyrgios: The Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich

Tennis star Nick Kyrgios joined Gordon Ramsay last year to build a big breakfast sandwich. It is everything you want before a long day: egg, cheese, a crispy meat and fresh veggies on toasted bread. Make it at home in 10 minutes. Want more ideas like this one? Here are our favorite breakfast sandwiches that beat the drive thru.
You will need: 2 slices sourdough or 1 bagel, 1 tablespoon butter, 2 eggs, 2 slices bacon or 1 sausage patty, 1 slice cheddar, lettuce, 2 tomato slices, 1 tablespoon mayonnaise or hot sauce.
How to make it: Cook the bacon or sausage until crisp. Toast the bread in butter in the same pan. Fry the eggs and lay the cheese on top to melt. Spread mayonnaise on the toast, then stack the lettuce, tomato, meat and cheesy eggs. Press down, cut in half and eat while hot.
Jimmy Kimmel Live: Gordon Ramsay Scrambled Eggs

Gordon Ramsay showed his famous creamy scrambled eggs on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and that clip has more than 16 million views. His method is to cook the eggs slowly, taking the pan on and off the heat while stirring with butter, then seasoning at the very end. The result is soft and silky, never rubbery. Have you ever made eggs this way?
You will need: 3 eggs, 1 tablespoon cold butter, 1 teaspoon creme fraiche or sour cream, salt and pepper, chopped chives, buttered toast.
How to make it: Crack the eggs into a cold pan, add the butter and set over medium heat. Stir constantly with a spatula. Every 30 seconds, take the pan off the heat for 10 seconds while you keep stirring. When the eggs are soft and just set, about 3 to 4 minutes, stir in the creme fraiche, then season. Serve right away on toast with chives.
Hawaii Episode: Scrambled Eggs With Diced Ham

In Hawaii, Gordon Ramsay made a local favorite: scrambled eggs with crispy cubes of canned luncheon meat, a breakfast staple in the islands. That episode has more than 9 million views. At home, diced ham works just as well. Fry it until the edges are crispy and golden, then fold in soft eggs, green onions and a splash of soy sauce.
You will need: 1 cup diced ham or canned luncheon meat, 1 teaspoon oil, 5 eggs, 1 teaspoon soy sauce, 2 green onions sliced, 1 tablespoon butter, cooked white rice (optional), a pinch of furikake or sesame seeds.
How to make it: Fry the diced ham in the oil until crisp on the edges, about 5 minutes. Whisk the eggs with the soy sauce. Add the butter to the pan, pour in the eggs and stir gently over medium low heat until just set. Fold in the green onions. Serve over rice and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bonus: Gordon Ramsay Eggs Benedict

Gordon’s own how-to video for eggs Benedict has more than 18 million views, making it one of his most watched breakfast lessons. The secret is a simple hollandaise whisked over steam and perfectly poached eggs with runny yolks. It is the brunch dish that makes any weekend feel special. Are you brave enough to make hollandaise from scratch?
You will need: 4 eggs, 2 English muffins split and toasted, 4 slices Canadian bacon or ham, 1 tablespoon vinegar. Hollandaise: 2 egg yolks, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, half cup butter melted and warm, a pinch of salt and cayenne.
How to make it: Whisk the yolks and lemon juice in a bowl over simmering water until thick, then slowly whisk in the warm butter and season. Keep it warm. Bring a pot of water with the vinegar to a gentle simmer, swirl and poach the eggs 3 minutes. Warm the bacon in a pan. Top each muffin half with bacon, a poached egg and hollandaise.
Gordon Ramsay Style Tips for Home Cooks

Watch enough of his videos and a few lessons repeat. First, get your pan properly hot before meat goes in, and do not move it too soon. Second, season as you go and taste everything. Third, let steak and chicken rest before slicing so the juices stay inside. Which tip will change your cooking tonight?
You will need: A heavy skillet, a good knife, kosher salt, black pepper, butter, fresh herbs, a meat thermometer.
How to make it: Preheat your pan for 2 to 3 minutes before adding oil. Pat meat dry so it browns instead of steaming. Season with salt from high above for an even layer. Baste with butter and herbs at the end. Use a thermometer: 130F for medium rare steak, 165F for chicken. Rest meat 5 to 10 minutes before you cut it.
